About the EMR refresher course
The EMR Refresher Course takes 16 hours to complete, which fulfills the state requirement for the length of the refresher course. The course is entirely self-paced. You can log in at any time to work on the material. You have up to 6 months of access to complete the course. We have recorded video presentations based on topic areas relevant to a practicing EMR, along with a quiz for each presentation. There are also resources for reviewing patient care skills such as a video demonstration.

Institutionally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE, formerly known as CECBEMS) and an approved training program.\

Prerequisites
EMTs renewing their NREMT certification need 40 hours of continuing education topics following the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model.
The NCCP is a total of 40 hours divided into the following components:
NCCR
National Continued Competency Requirements – 20 hours
13 hours of virtual instructor-led training + 7 hours of self-paced online learning.
LCCR
Local Continued Competency Requirements – 10 hours
7 hours of self-paced online learning + BLS Provider certification counts for 3 hours of instructor-led training.
ICCR
Individual Continued Competency Requirements – 10 hours
10 hours of self-paced online learning.

Once you receive your Home Care Aide Certification from the State of Washington you must complete 12 hours of Continuing Education every year before your birthday. Columbia Safety offers the 12 hours in a two-day course.
In our two day continuing education program you will be able to complete the 12 hours needed to meet Washington State requirements to keep your HCA current. These courses will change each year for a variety of new training in different aspects of your career.
