This course meets the Washington State Department of Health requirements for EMT certification. Course duration is approx. 3 months. 

The Emergency Medical Technician course is the entry level to begin a career in the field of Emergency Medical Services.  This program follows the current Department of Transportation (DOT) curriculum. 

Our program trains EMTs to work in the prehospital emergency medical environment.  For students in other allied health careers, the EMT training provides valuable assessment and treatment skills for emergencies in the prehospital setting.

*Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT certification examination.
Entrance/Admission Requirements

    Anyone 18 years of age and older can apply for the Emergency Medical Technician Training Program.

    Students must possess a High School Diploma, a General Education Development (GED) Diploma or a state placement test.

    Criminal history records when considering individual for admission and continuation. These reviews are carried out        because they relate to the essential qualifications of potential and continuing students under the Emergency Medical      Technician Program curriculum standards, as well as to the safety and security of patients and public.

   Go to http://www.wsp.wa.gov/crime/crimhist.htm to request a Criminal History report. Print your results. The cost is $12.00 (price may vary) payable online (requires a credit card).
Columbia Safety Training Center will provide a criminal history background report for the student at the cost of $30.00 if one is not provided within 10 days of the first day of class.

   Must have all immunization records within 10 days of the first day of class (i.e. Tb)

   A primary care physician or community health center can provide this service for a fee. The fee will vary depending on the provider.

   Proof of identity- State or Federal issued identification

   American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (Non-Expired)

   An EMT Application Package completed to include a program entrance exam.

   An placement fee ($100.00) if accepted into the program which will be applied to your tuition.
